Field Evaluation Meeting for Domestic Onion New Varieties 'Moon Five' and 'Goal' Held in Muan

Public and private sectors join hands to enhance the competitiveness of domestically produced onions through a new variety field evaluation meeting. The National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science held an onion field evaluation meeting on May 28 at the Leafy Vegetable Research Center in Muan, Jeollanam-do, inviting private breeding companies and farmers. This evaluation meeting was prepared with the aim of collaborating with the private sector to increase the distribution rate of domestic onion varieties. Onions are a representative seasoning vegetable with a domestic production value of 1.1389 trillion won. However, the distribution rate of domestic varieties is only around 30%.
