Fight against illegal fishing: Government to implement satellite system if Peru for foreign vessels, what is it about?

The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) of Peru has implemented new regulations to strengthen the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. These measures are aimed especially at foreign-flagged fishing vessels operating in waters near the country. In this regard, the Government announced the implementation of the Satellite Tracking System (SISESAT). “When entering our maritime space for different activities such as repairs, crew changes, provisions or any other reason, they will have to install our Satellite Tracking System (SISESAT) or otherwise homologate it with the one they already have, so that we can identify and control the exact location of these vessels,” said the Minister of Production, Sergio González.
