The raspberry season in Georgia has been affected by climate-related issues, leading to a decrease in quality and volume of the first harvests. Some farmers have lost their early harvests due to heavy rains. Despite these challenges, the market supply has stabilized as the season progresses. However, prices are expected to increase in the coming weeks with the end of the summer collection period. Many farmers are looking for ways to minimize weather-related risks, with some considering producing raspberries in high-rise tunnels. However, the high cost makes it difficult for most farmers to afford this technology. As a result, many farmers are calling for government or donor support to introduce high tunnel technology. The raspberry harvest in Georgia doubled in 2022 compared to the previous season, reaching 1,200 tons. However, a significant number of farmers have left the market due to adverse conditions.
