The first cherry harvest of the year has begun in Kemalpaşa, a district of İzmir famous for its cherry production. The district, which is home to nearly 3 million cherry trees, contributes 85% to İzmir and 12% to Turkey's cherry production. The harvest is expected to continue until the end of June. This year's yield is reported to be high with good quality. The cherries will be exported in addition to being supplied to the domestic market.
