Germany anticipates a substantial rise in sugar production for the 2024/25 campaign, with an estimated 4.77 million tons, marking a 13% increase from the previous year. This growth is driven by an expansion in sugar beet planting (385,596 hectares compared to 364,519 hectares last year) and higher root polarization (17.2º versus 15.5º last year). Despite challenges from humid and warm weather increasing disease pressure, the expected yield is 81.9 tons per hectare, surpassing the five-year average of 72.7 tons per hectare. Total sugar beet deliveries are projected to reach 31.6 million tons, a 9.7% rise from the previous year.
