Russia's fish catch is projected to increase to around 4.92-4.93 million tons by the end of 2024, according to Ilya Shestakov, the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries. The types of fish caught include pollock, Iwashi sardine, and herring, and Shestakov ensures that the domestic market will be well-supplied with these products. The availability of caviar for the domestic market is also promised. Although the export of fish products experienced a slight decrease in 2024, it is anticipated to recover in 2025. The primary markets for these exports are China, Korea, Nigeria, and the Netherlands, with the European Union serving as the distribution point. Shestakov's strategy focuses on increasing the value of exports by introducing fish products with higher added value to the market.
