A report by NHK reveals that a fish caught during experimental fishing in Fukushima Prefecture's waters was found to have radioactive substances, five times exceeding the national standard. The Fukushima Prefecture Fishery Cooperative Association immediately halted the fish from being sold, and no other fish species exceeded the standard in the past two years. The fish, known as 'クロソイ' or Xu's scorpionfish, was found to have 500 becquerels per kilogram, surpassing Japan's standard of 100 becquerels. The prefecture continues to monitor the radioactive substance levels in fish, with no excesses since last year, despite a detection of a high radioactive cesium content in a scorpionfish caught near the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in 2019.
