The International Fishmeal and Oil Organization (Iffo) has announced a 40% increase in global fishmeal production in the first half of 2024, largely due to Peru's decision to increase anchovy quotas. The Peruvian anchovy fishery, which contributes 20% to global fishmeal production, has seen a boost following the impact of the El Niño climate phenomenon in 2023. Additionally, Iffo has reported a 10.8% increase in fish oil volumes in the same timeframe.
