Fish prices in Egypt's local market have increased, with tilapia now costing between 35-45 pounds per kilo and snakes costing 200 pounds per kilo. The country, which produces 2 million tons of fish annually, mostly through farming, is looking to boost exports. The transit market prices for various fish and seafood have also been reported. Egypt, the top fish farmer in Africa, is expanding its fish farming efforts through national projects and hatcheries, and has achieved 85% self-sufficiency in fish production.
