Egypt is working to increase its fish export rates and has achieved 85% self-sufficiency in fish production. The country's fish prices vary depending on the type and region. In 2019, Egypt exported about 35 thousand tons of fish. The country's official website of Obour market confirmed that a kilo of dentex ranged between 100 and 260 pounds, a kilo of mullet ranged between 90 and 160 pounds, and Swiss macaroni ranged between 85 and 185 pounds. Egypt's production of natural fisheries is 400 thousand tons (lakes - Bahrain and the Nile), and the country produces 2 million tons annually, including 1.6 million tons from fish farming. Fish farms are the largest contributor to fish production in Egypt, accounting for 79.7% of the total production.
