Fish prices in Egypt have stabilized, with tilapia priced between 35 and 49 pounds, Suez pasta between 50 and 95 pounds, and crabs between 100 and 160 pounds. The local market also saw various prices for bream, squid, coral, and snakes. Egypt achieves 85% self-sufficiency in fish production, producing 2 million tons annually, of which 1.6 million tons are from fish farming. Imported fish included 325,000 tons of mackerel, herring, and sardines. Fish farms are the primary contributor to fish production, accounting for 79.7% of the total, followed by lakes (10.8%) and other sources like marine and fresh water. Egypt is working to increase its fish exports, which reached about 35,000 tons in 2019.
