The Central Laboratory for Fisheries Research in Al-Abbas, Egypt, is a key institution in boosting fish production, as part of the country's strategy to achieve 3 million tons of fish by 2030. Established in 1991 and recognized by the International Society of Aquaculture in West Africa for its role in women in fish farming in Africa, the lab specializes in applied research to benefit the fish sector. It provides guidance, technology transfer, and results communication to relevant authorities. The lab also leases its productive assets to private investors, with technical oversight, and operates a 40-acre research farm and two equipped training rooms. Its goal is to improve fisheries wealth through economic research and transfer of fish farming technology to farmers.
