Starting this Monday (24), in 122 municipalities of the states of Piauí, Amazonas, and Bahia, the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE) will conduct interviews and provide guidance to artisanal fishermen interested in securing their right to the fishing ban insurance. In Pará and Maranhão, the service will begin on December 1. The initiative aims to identify beneficiaries and guide them on the new rules for applying for the Artisanal Fisherman's Unemployment Insurance (SDPA) – more commonly known as fishing ban insurance. According to the ministry, the interviews will be conducted in unions, associations, and fishing colonies in these municipalities, from Monday to Friday. The fishing ban insurance aims to guarantee income for artisanal fishermen during the fishing ban period, when fishing is prohibited for species preservation.
