The Asian Palm Oil Alliance (APOA) has been established by edible oil trade associations from five South Asian countries: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal. The goal of the alliance is to strengthen bargaining power and ensure sustainable imports of palm oil. The first meeting of APOA was held at the Globoil Summit, with plans to change the negative perception of palm oil and expand membership to include companies or industry bodies involved in the production or refining of palm oil in Asia. India is the largest Asian importer of palm oil, accounting for 15% of global imports.
