Five species of Nepali cardamom have been identified and forwarded to the Ministry of Agriculture for verification. The species were not previously identified despite cardamom being grown in Nepal for a long time. The identification is aimed at helping the country identify its product in the international market, as India has already identified the species of its cardamom and has taken patent rights of the cardamom produced in Nepal. The five recommended species include Ramsai, Golsai, Dambarsai, Jirmale, and Bharlang. After approval by the seeds determination committee, the names of the species will be published in the gazette.
