A recent study by the Mintel Group indicates a decrease in demand for plant-based products due to concerns over taste, nutritional value, and cost. Nearly half of consumers surveyed expressed concerns about taste, while 35% believed animal meat offered superior nutrition. Additionally, 34% found plant-based products too expensive. The research also showed a drop in the number of people on a reduced meat diet from 21% to 18% between 2022 and 2023, and highlighted the nutritional benefits of animal protein, particularly red meat, over plant-based alternatives.
