The Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) has released a report detailing the findings of its food safety inspections in 2021. A total of 41,244 inspections were conducted, resulting in 22,667 samples being tested. The report highlighted the presence of pathogens like Campylobacter in raw milk, Salmonella in chicken, and Hepatitis E in raw pork liver. Many samples were rejected due to a lack of labeling or misleading information. Some samples were found to be unfit for human consumption due to microbial contamination, especially Salmonella and Campylobacter, especially in poultry products. Additionally, some spice products were found to be harmful due to microbial contamination and the presence of prohibited ingredients.
