From September 1 to September 7, 2020, the consumer price index remained steady at 100.0%, with no change from the start of the month and a minimal increase of 0.0% year-on-year, according to Rosstat. During this period, there were notable price fluctuations in the food market. While the cost of granulated sugar increased by 1.0%, prices for millet and buckwheat groats, chicken meat, rice, pork, semi-smoked and boiled-smoked sausages, chicken eggs, and tea saw decreases. Additionally, the prices for sunflower oil, biscuits, wheat bread, beef, canned meat, frozen fish, and caramel slightly rose, and the prices for most fruits and vegetables, especially potatoes, carrots, apples, and cabbage, significantly dropped by an average of 3.1%.
