In a significant development for Ukraine's agricultural sector, the country has processed a record 1.0 million tons of rapeseed from its 2023 harvest, representing 23.3% of the total yield. This marks a notable shift towards domestic processing of a crop traditionally aimed at export. From July-March 2023/24, Ukraine exported an unprecedented 400,000 tons of rapeseed oil to major markets such as China, the EU, Malaysia, and Singapore, alongside a rise in rapeseed meal exports. The 'Ukroliyaprom' Association views this surge in domestic processing and the export of value-added products like oil and meal as a promising sign for the expansion of Ukraine's oil and fat industry, suggesting potential growth beyond sunflower seeds to include soybeans and rapeseeds.
