Within nine months of 2024, durian exports to China reached 2.45 billion USD, with September's imports surging by 58.4% in volume and 39% in value compared to the previous year, making Vietnam the largest supplier. Despite this, overall fruit and vegetable exports from Vietnam decreased by 43.3% in October compared to September but still increased by 27.8% to 6.16 billion USD in the first ten months of the year. The exports experienced varied trends across different markets, with the US, Korea, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates showing growth, while the Netherlands experienced a decline. The export value of key fruits such as longan, coconut, mango, and jackfruit increased, except for dragon fruit, which saw a nearly 20% decrease. The growth in fruit and vegetable exports is attributed to increased demand, Free Trade Agreements, and protocols, but there is concern for a potential significant decrease in durian exports in the remaining months due to the off-season.
