Australian barley exports are experiencing a growth due to a large Chinese program and increased demand in Turkey. Despite Ukraine's expensive logistics and geographic proximity to Ukraine, importers are still active buyers. Ukraine has received a record harvest of 10 million tons, providing an export potential of 6 million tons. The start of the season was excellent, with 1.8 million tons of barley exported in August. However, there is a decline in shipment to key buyers China and Saudi Arabia, which is partially offset by Turkey. Since the beginning of 2021/22 MY, grain exports from Ukraine reached 19.4 million tons, with a 33% increase in barley exports compared to the previous year.
