Ukraine has experienced a significant decrease in dairy exports, with losses reaching $ 38.9 million for the first half of the year, primarily due to a drop in milk, condensed cream, butter, milk powder, and condensed milk exports. The country's main buyers of these products have been Azerbaijan, Moldova, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Armenia. Additionally, imports of dairy products, especially butter and cheese, have surged, posing a threat to the national dairy industry. This situation is attributed to the free trade agreement with the EU, which has led to the removal of import duties, allowing easy access for European dairy products. The country is experiencing a negative balance in its foreign trade with major dairy suppliers like Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, and France. The situation is exacerbated by a milk shortage and a global decline in dairy prices and demand, prompting calls for investigations and protective measures for local producers.
