The Ministry of Agriculture in France has introduced a compensation scheme for farmers affected by the April 2021 frost, which caused a loss of over 30% of the guaranteed yield for certain crops. The scheme, with a budget of 63 million euros, will provide up to 2.5 capital points for wine and table grapes and field crops, and 10 points for arboriculture and small fruits to the insured farmers. The scheme is open until May 6, 2022, and is part of a larger reform aimed at encouraging farmers to adopt multi-risk crop insurance. The law also introduces a possibility of reducing compensation for uninsured farmers by up to 50%.
