On July 26, the General Administration of Customs of China announced that fresh mangos from Bangladesh can be imported into China if they meet specific phytosanitary requirements. Bangladesh, a significant mango producer, has historically faced export challenges due to compliance issues, but recent improvements have been noted. The GACC mandates that Bangladeshi orchards, packaging plants, and treatment facilities be inspected, registered, and adhere to strict agricultural and hygiene practices. Additionally, mangos must undergo hot steam or hot water treatment to eliminate pests before export, with China identifying 16 quarantine pests of concern related to Bangladeshi mangos.
