Spain: Fruit and vegetable exports grow by 9% in volume and 5% in value until September

Spanish exports of fresh fruit and vegetables from January to September 2024 have grown by 9% in volume compared to the same period of the previous year, totalling nine million tonnes, and by 5% in value, reaching 13,044 million euros, of which 7,379 million corresponded to fruit (+9%) and 5,665 million euros to vegetables (-0.3%). Specifically, foreign sales of fresh fruit until September 2024 have reached 5,004,938 tonnes, 9.5% more than in the same period of 2023, for a value of 7,379,203 euros (+9%). After citrus fruits, the most exported fruits are stone fruits, watermelon and melon and red fruits. The growth of stone fruit exports as a whole, except for plums, stands out, with increases such as those of nectarines, with 317,713 tonnes (+13.5%) and 468 million euros (+11%) or Paraguayan plums, with 200,403 tonnes (+12%) and 309 million euros (+19%).
