Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports surpassed the record set in 2023 in August 2024, with a monthly turnover of 917 million USD, and continued to grow, reaching 5.64 billion USD in the first nine months of 2024, a 34% increase over the same period in 2023. The growth is largely due to the significant contribution of durian exports to China, with expectations to reach 3.5 billion USD for the year. Other contributions come from bananas and other fruits and vegetables. The exports to China have reached 3.8 billion USD in the first nine months, setting a new record. Additionally, exports to the United States, South Korea, and other major markets have also seen positive growth. The exports are projected to continue growing in the last months of the year, potentially reaching over 2 billion USD in the fourth quarter, bringing the total export turnover for 2024 to over 7 billion USD, making it the first time for Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports to surpass other key agricultural products like coffee and rice.
