Ukraine has seen a significant decrease in fruit imports during the war, with a 33% drop in 2022 and an additional 3% in 2023, as reported by Pro-Consulting CEO, Oleksandr Sokolov. The only exception is the import of watermelons and melons, which has doubled due to a loss in local production. The country has also seen a 10% annual increase in vegetable imports from 2021 to 2023, particularly during winter. However, strikes by European farmers and transporters at the Ukrainian border have disrupted the import of fruits and vegetables, leading to supply issues and price instability.
