The Central Statistical Office (KSH) has reported a rise in the prices of a number of food and non-food items. The list includes bacon, sugar, vegetables, fruit, potatoes, canned meat, pork, salami, dry sausage, ham and meat and fish products. Despite this, prices for fresh vegetables, potatoes and dry pasta fell. The increase in the prices of seasonal foods such as fresh domestic and southern fruits is due to lower supply caused by adverse weather. Excise duty on tobacco products, which increased from July 1, has also led to a 1.4% increase in the price of tobacco products.
