The Council of the EU adopted a decision late on Monday evening regarding the position that the EU will take in the EU-Ukraine Association Committee on the reduction or elimination of tariffs on various agricultural food products, such as dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, and meat preparations. This is the result of the preliminary agreement on the review of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) between the EU and Ukraine, reached by the European Commission and Ukraine on June 30, 2025. According to the agreed position, trade flows between the EU and Ukraine will be strengthened, while ensuring that Ukraine's access to the market is tied to its gradual alignment with the EU's production standards for animal welfare, pesticides, and veterinary medicinal products, according to Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Denmark's Minister of Foreign Affairs.
