[Korean Farmers and Fishermen Newspaper Reporter Lee Woo-jung] Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province will operate a concentrated management period for illegal fishing for one month in October to protect aquatic resources and establish a sound fishing order during the autumn spawning season. During the concentrated management period, illegal activities such as the capture, distribution, and sale of illegal catches will be intensively inspected, and promotional and educational activities will also be carried out to encourage voluntary compliance with the law by fishermen. The main targets for intensive inspection are illegal capture, distribution, and sale of species such as mackerel, crabs, and squid, as well as violations of operational areas and restricted conditions. Violators caught in the inspection will face administrative actions such as suspension of fishing permits in accordance with relevant fishery-related laws.
