The retail price of garlic and purple onions has sharply increased in Ho Chi Minh City, with Northern garlic being sold for 140,000 VND per kg and Ly Son and Phan Rang garlic priced at 200,000 VND per kg. This is due to a decrease in supply caused by a failed garlic crop at the beginning of the year and a decrease in imports from China and India. The purchasing power is weak, but the price of garlic at growing households in the North is 50,000-55,000 VND per kilogram.
