Germany's sugar production from beets for the 2024/25 season is projected to increase by 13% to around 4.77 million tonnes, according to the WVZ sugar association. This is attributed to an increase in plantings of sugar beet, reaching 385,000 hectares, or 5.7% more than the previous season. The association anticipates farmers to deliver 31.59 million tonnes of beets, up from 29.81 million tonnes last season. The average yield is expected to be 81.9 tonnes per hectare, slightly higher than the previous season, and the average sugar content is expected to rise to 17.2%, up from 16.4%. Harvesting has already begun despite some delays due to spring rain.
