Germany approves origin labeling regulations for fresh meat

The German federal government has approved a new regulation on food origin labeling for non-prepackaged meat, including pork, sheep, goat, and poultry, by Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, Cem Özdemir. This regulation extends the existing requirement for origin indication, which was previously limited to packaged meat, to non-packaged meat. The rule, already in place for unpackaged beef, aims to provide consumers with more transparent information about the source of their meat.
