In 2020, the European Union (EU) produced 55.3 million tons of potatoes, with Germany, Poland, France, and the Netherlands being the top producers, accounting for nearly 75% of the Union's production. The total value of processed potato production in the EU was 9.1 billion euros in 2019, which was 1.6% of the total food industry production. The majority of the potatoes were sold abroad, while the rest was used to produce frozen potatoes, cooked or processed potatoes, dried potatoes, or potato starch.
