President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana has promised that the Komenda Sugar Factory is expected to commence production by April 2022. The president made this announcement during a meeting with traditional leaders from Komenda, assuring that the remaining civil works at the factory would be completed by the end of March. He also revealed that negotiations are underway for a 20,000-acre sugarcane plantation to supply the factory, as the initial 5,000 acres have been encroached upon for other projects. The president also mentioned that a strategic investor, Park Agrotech Ghana Limited, has been selected for the project, despite delays due to the investor's demands and the COVID-19 pandemic.
