The Ghana Cattle Ranching and Transhumance Committee (GCRTC) has been launched in Accra to support peaceful transhumance activities in the country. The Committee will work with the Ministries of Food and Agriculture and National Security to provide advisory and guidance to maximize the benefits of transhumance activities. Replacing the previous National Transhumance Committee, the GCRTC has a broader mandate to promote peaceful transhumance activities and is expected to attract international funding and technical support. The President of Farmers Organisations Network in Ghana has expressed optimism that the committee will have a positive impact on transhumance management in Ghana and contribute to rural development through livestock.
