The African Coconut Group (ACG), led by President Davies Korboe, is encouraging business leaders to invest in Ghana's coconut industry, positioning it as a sustainable and profitable venture with the potential to become a primary export commodity. The industry's benefits include high returns, job creation, and the opportunity to diversify Ghana's export portfolio. Korboe emphasized that coconut production is more beneficial than illegal mining, which often leads to environmental damage. The 4th International Coconut Festival Ghana, scheduled for October 2024, will serve as a platform for economic and technical discussions, networking, and mentorship for young people and women in the sector. The government's inclusion of coconut under the Tree Crop Development Authority (TCDA) in 2019 to regulate its production and export highlights the sector's growing importance, as shown by the non-traditional export figures for 2022.
