The Minas Gerais-based breeder Alexandre Lopes Lacerda was elected president of the Brazilian Association of Girolando Breeders for the 2026/2028 triennium. The election took place last Friday (17), at the entity's headquarters in Uberaba (MG), with a single slate and participation from members from different states. The new board will take office in January of next year. Lacerda succeeds Domício Arruda, who remains in command until December. The current president highlighted the advancement of the Girolando breed in recent years, consolidated as the main base of Brazilian milk production. "Today, the Girolando accounts for about 80% of the national production and is expanding its presence in Latin America. The new team will continue the work of expanding and valuing the breed," said Arruda.
