The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service has released a report predicting a slight increase in global fresh cherry production for the 2024-25 season, reaching 5.0 million tons, despite a decline in production from Turkey. This increase is expected to be driven by China, Chile, the European Union, and the United States. Global cherry exports are also anticipated to reach 759,000 tons, approaching last season's record. China's production and imports are estimated to increase, while the European Union's production has seen growth despite weather damage. US cherry production is also expected to rise, despite frost damage. Chile and China are the primary players in the global cherry trade, with Chile being a key off-season supplier to the Chinese market.
