The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council reported a 9.1% increase in global pistachio production in the 2024/25 season, largely due to a significant increase in production in Türkiye. Despite a decrease in production in the United States, Spain, and Italy, the total global production of in-shell pistachios reached 1.168 million tons. However, geopolitical tensions are causing concern about the supply of pistachios in the European Union, leading to a significant price increase in the region. Iran's production also saw a increase but the extreme weather conditions resulted in a high proportion of small and closed fruits. Turkey set a record with 415,500 tons of shelled fruit production, up 130.8% year-on-year, driven by a surge in demand for chocolate in Dubai.
