[Gochang Farmers' News, Reporter Gu Jeong-min] The Gochang County Daesung Agricultural Cooperative's peanut processing factory held a 'New Peanut Variety Evaluation Meeting' on the 14th with around 100 attendees, including local peanut farmers and county officials. This evaluation meeting included an overview of the current peanut cultivation status in Gochang County and the operation of the processing factory, as well as a display and tasting event for new peanut varieties developed by the National Institute of Crop Science. Participants directly compared the characteristics and appearances of different varieties to examine those with high regional adaptability. Gochang County is a leading peanut production area in Jeollabuk-do, with a cultivation area of approximately 400 hectares, which is increasing annually. Local agricultural cooperatives secure stable sales channels through contract farming and farm income.
