This article reports on the anticipated increase in the harvest and shipment of chestnuts and jujubes in South Korea for this year, attributed to favorable weather conditions without typhoons. However, the quality of the chestnuts for Chuseok may be subpar due to extended tropical nights, leading to a delayed fall and a slight decrease in market price in September. The main regions for chestnut production include South Chungcheong, South Jeolla, and South Gyeongsang Provinces, while jujubes are primarily produced in Gyeongbuk, Chungbuk, and Chungnam Provinces. Despite the risk of supply shortages for Chuseok due to average production levels and rainfall-related issues, experts predict a sufficient supply for ancestral rites and expect prices to remain similar to last year for jujubes.
