Good start to rapeseed sowing campaign in France, but other major producers in Europe suffered delays

The latest JRC report analyzes how they are developing, especially the work of rapeseed sowing in Europe, as well as that of cereal in those areas where this activity has been developed. RAPE In France, the rapeseed planting campaign started in late August, when agrometeorological conditions were favourable, and quickly concluded in the first dekad of September. Warmer than average temperatures and adequate soil moisture conditions favored early plant development. Similarly, soil moisture and temperature conditions in Ireland, the Baltic countries and northern Italy were favorable for planting to take place on time and rapeseed to emerge healthy. In Germany, the rapeseed planting campaign was delayed until the end of August due to prevailing dry conditions, with planting not completed until the first dekade of September, after beneficial rains improved soil moisture levels.
