The EU saw a sharp increase in imports of the main vegetable oils last season. Only in the case of rapeseed oil was the decline minimal, while for the others it exceeded 20%.

Legislative changes in key European Union member states regarding the use of vegetable oils as raw materials for biodiesel production, as well as the contraction of processed oilseed crops in Ukraine, led to a reduction in the import of the four main types of vegetable oils in the community a month before the end of the 2024-2025 season (October-September) to its lowest level in several seasons, announced the authoritative German market analysis and forecast company Oil World. Between October 2024 and August 2025, inclusive, the total import of sunflower, soybean, rapeseed, and palm oil into the EU decreased to 7.06 million tons from 8.8 million tons during the same period of the previous season.
