Over 50 farmers in Gopalganj district, Bangladesh, have seen substantial profits from organically farming bottle gourd this year, thanks to loans, training, and advanced techniques from the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE). The approach included using high-yield varieties, modern mulching and cutting methods, and coco dust fertilizer, leading to higher yields and cost savings. Despite challenges from floods and the pandemic, the method has proven successful, with one farmer already making a profit of Tk80,000 and expecting more. Other farmers have also reported good yields of nutritious products, and the DAE plans to provide more support for organic vegetable cultivation.
