The Puebla state government, led by Governor Sergio Salomón Céspedes Peregrina, has unveiled a strategy to boost mezcalero agave production in the Mixteca region, aiming to provide a primary source of income for the local population. Announced during a sorghum production support event in Tepexco, this initiative seeks to position Puebla's mezcalero agave as the nation's best and provide an alternative economy for a region hit by drought. The plan also includes efforts to improve water supply through the recovery of jagüeyes, which are used for collecting rainwater, and by constructing water wells and cemeteries in Tepexco.
