Government Prepares Limited Ban on Ethanol and Tapioca Flour Imports
This policy is a direct directive from President Prabowo Subianto.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LAMPUNG — Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman confirmed that the government will soon implement a limited ban (lartas) on the import of ethanol and tapioca flour. This policy is a direct directive from President Prabowo Subianto to protect farmers and maintain the stability of food commodity prices in the domestic market. Amran emphasized that the main principle of this policy is simple. If domestic needs are already met, the import gates are closed. "Specifically for ethanol, we will issue an import ban. If national production is sufficient, imports will be eliminated. The same applies to cassava; if the domestic need for tapioca flour is met, imports will not be allowed," he said after a coordination meeting with local government, sugar cane farmers' association, and cassava farmers, at the Ministry of Agriculture's Central Office in Jakarta, Friday (19/9/2025).
