The National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) in Uganda is taking steps to boost agro-industrialization by establishing a fruit processing facility in the Greater Masaka Region. This initiative is part of NAADS's ongoing efforts to increase fruit production since 2014, which has seen significant distribution of planting materials in various regions. However, farmers face challenges of fluctuating prices and limited market access for their fresh fruits. The proposed facility aims to address these issues by adding value to pineapples and mangoes, providing a ready market, and creating additional job opportunities. A feasibility study for the facility is currently in progress, with expectations to complete by the end of September 2020.
