Tanzania's Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Mashimba Ndaki, has unveiled a comprehensive plan to boost dairy and beef production by addressing key challenges such as pasture shortage, water availability, disease control, and improving genetics of cattle. This plan includes the growth of nutritious grass varieties, the establishment of modern cattle dips, and education for livestock keepers. The government is also supported by various international organizations and is encouraging smallholder farmers to improve milk and meat production efficiency. The AgResults Tanzania Dairy Productivity Challenge Project, backed by the private sector, is designed to increase access to critical inputs and advisory services, with the competition set to continue encouraging growth and collaboration in the dairy sector for the next two years.
