The New Valley Governorate in Egypt has revealed that dates are exported to over 18 countries, including Russia, Canada, Australia, and Indonesia. The governorate has invested over 70 billion pounds in infrastructure and half a billion pounds in communications. It produces over one million tons of potatoes and wheat annually. The governorate also has plans to plant five million palm trees by 2024. The governorate is focused on agriculture and irrigation, and is the most productive region for dates, preserving the Saidi variety. The governorate has received the best center, village, and governorate in government excellence, and has the newest schools in Egypt.
